Bemidji Area Arts Endowment offering scholarships

The Bemidji Area Arts Endowment (BAAE), a component fund of Northwest Minnesota Foundation is now accepting project grant applications for its 2012 grant round.

The Bemidji Area Arts Endowment (BAAE), a component fund of Northwest Minnesota Foundation is now accepting project grant applications for its 2012 grant round.

Grant applications are available at the Region 2 Arts Council office, Bemidji Community Arts Center, Headwaters School of Music and Northwest Minnesota Foundation office. A copy of the application is also available online at www.nwmf.org .

The 2012 grant deadline is April 2. Grants up to $1,000 may be requested and recipients will be notified by May 1.

BAAE and six of the 12 special purpose funds that make up BAAE's family of funds have achieved a new high of $12,000 in grant money to be awarded this spring to support the visual, literary, music and performance endeavors of qualifying area arts organizations and artists, musicians and authors under the organization's direction.

The BAAE board of directors coordinated the granting of nearly $10,000 a year ago, granting funds to the Studio Art Cruise, a four-harpsichord concert at BSU, the Spoken Word Series, a Clear Waters Life Center sculptors' workshop, the Marriage of Figaro opera presentation, and others, as well as providing funds for three orchestral students to continue private lesson studies.

The 2012 grant round will include money from the BAAE Fund, as well as from the Everett Wilimek Endowment for Violin Studies, Ernie Rall Children's Performing Arts Fund, HB and Ina T. Roholt Family Fund for the Arts, North Star Arts Fund, Fred Marshall Fund for the Headwaters School of Music and the Arts, and Richard & Pam Nelson Family Fund for the Visual Arts.

The Bemidji Area Arts Endowment, established in 1998, enables individuals, families, businesses and organizations to give financial gifts to the arts.
