ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is seeking six new members for its Environmental Justice Advisory Group.

Formed in 2016, the group provides input and recommendations about ways to incorporate environmental justice principles into the MPCA's work. According to a press release, the group is involved in the following:

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the agency in implementing its environmental justice framework.
  • Providing recommendations for integration of environmental justice principles.
  • Collaborating with the agency on civic engagement.
  • Sharing oral history and community experiences to the agency.

Ideal candidates for the group include residents from areas of concern for environmental justice, community organizers, local government staff and representatives from non-profit organizations. The application deadline for the group is Aug. 12, 2019.
