MercyMe to perform in Bemidji
BEMIDJI—Christian music superstars MercyMe will bring its "Imagine Nation Tour" to Bemidji in March.
The current GMA Dove Awards Artist of the Year is set to play March 22 at the Sanford Center.
MercyMe also is nominated in this year's American Music Awards, which will be held Oct. 9 in Los Angeles. The band from Edmond, Okla., also was recently named Top Christian Artist at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.
Since their debut in 2001, MercyMe has been nominated for multiple Grammy awards and won numerous AMA and Dove awards.
Known for its biggest hit—the crossover "I Can Only Imagine," the band has sold more than 9 million units in CD, single and DVD sales, a press release said. A major motion picture based on the life of front man Bart Millard, who wrote the mega-hit song "I Can Only Imagine" after the loss of his father, opened in March. Carrying the same name, Millard's first memoir was also released this year, followed by a greatest hits collection.
Accompanying MercyMe in Bemidji will be Grammy nominee Crowder and GMA Dove Award nominee Micah Tyler.
The Bemidji show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25, $35, $45, $85 and go on sale Friday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com, by phone at (800) 745-3000 or at the Bob Lowth Ford Pickup Ticket Window at the Sanford Center.
