ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Most Minnesotans are more than ready for warmer weather but that also means the start of every driver's least favorite season: road construction.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation unveiled its 2013 plans Wednesday. The $1.1 billion project list includes 87 projects in the Twin Cities area and 193 in greater Minnesota.
A few of the biggest construction projects include the Lafayette Bridge replacement in downtown St. Paul, the resurfacing of Interstate 94 from St. Cloud to Clearwater, and the reconstruction of Interstate 35 from Esko to Proctor.
MnDOT officials say many of the projects will cause traffic headaches but say it's all necessary work. They are asking drivers to always use extreme caution in work zones.
