Fae Frances Spangenburg

Fae Frances Spangenburg, 79, passed away, Jan. 30, 2014, at the Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, North Dakota, after a bravely fought illness.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Olson Schwartz funeral home. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Fae was born at home on April 15, 1934, in Leech Lake Township in Cass County, Minnesota to

Louis (Laurence) and Clara Corrick. She attended elementary school in Walker, Minnesota, and high school in Bemidji. She went on to finish high school in Washington, D.C., and then worked for the Washington, D.C. Board of Education for a number of years. Fae married Jack Spangenburg on May 9, 1953, a marriage of over sixty years.

Fae and Jack lived in Arlington, Virginia, spending part of every summer in the Bemidji area and finally moved to Bemidji in 1998. Fae was a homemaker and she spent hours making lovely quilts and sewing for her girls. She enjoyed painting and also taught arts and crafts in the Arlington County School System in Virginia. She loved her family and friends, fishing and enjoyed rooting for the Minnesota Twins. Fae kept a yard and a sun room full of year round blooming flowers to share.

Fae is survived by her husband, Jack, and daughters, Diane (William) Stufft of Virginia and Tammy (Richard) Bowen of Maryland, sister, Dorothy Carter of Grove City, Minnesota, granddaughter, Stacey Kent and fianc Edward Cornwell of Fredericksburg, Virginia, grandson, Joey Schell and son-in law, Wayne Schell of Vienna, Virginia, and several nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Laurie Schell and sister Helen West.
