WASHKISH — The Upper Red Lake Area Association's Keep it Clean Committee will host its first spring shoreline cleanup event May 28-30.
Those interested in volunteering can register and receive free trash bags from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, May 27, at the West Wing parking lot, 54719 MN Highway 72 in Washkish.
Volunteers can clean at their own pace over the weekend and take full trash bags to the transfer station in Washkish or sign up to be part of the clean-up crew.
Volunteers with trucks, trailers and ATVs are needed on Monday, May 30, to pick up any yellow trash bags that are left on the shoreline for those who cannot get to the transfer station.
"Thanks to Beltrami County Solid Waste and to our sponsors Ice Castle and KD Wild Rice for supporting this effort," organizers said in a release. "If we all pitch in we can help protect and preserve our precious lake and shoreline for all to enjoy."
