The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way are recognizing “Someone Special Volunteers” who have made significant contributions to the community. Today's volunteers are Megan Heuer and Gabriel Warren, nominated by the Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area.
"It would’ve been nearly impossible to safely operate and live out our mission the last two years if not for Beltrami County Public Health Director Megan Heuer," a release said. "She is always available to answer COVID-related questions to ensure the safety of club staff, volunteers, and most importantly, youth and families."
First thing in the morning and well past dinner time, Megan was just a phone call or text away to ensure club staff could keep kids safe, the release said.
Gabriel Warren has been a board member at the Boys and Girls Club since May 2018 and served as chair for two consecutive terms and is currently part of the marketing committee.
"A former club kid himself, Gabriel has helped guide the Club through turbulent times with grace and generosity of spirit when many extra responsibilities, meetings, and impactful decisions were needed," the release said. "He is a strong advocate of the club’s mission, and we are so grateful for his thoughtful leadership."
