Miss Northland, Miss Northern Lakes crowned in Bemidji pageant

Two ladies were recently crowned at the local pageant competition in Bemidji. Lori Martin Kingbird of Cass Lake and a student at Leech Lake Tribal College, was crowned Miss Northland, and Topanga Brown of Nashwauk and a student at the University of Wisconsin - Superior, was crowned Miss Northern Lakes.

Both won a scholarship and will go on to compete at the state competition in June representing the Bemidji area and northern half of the state, a release said.
