Sanford Health welcomes Cooper Wriston, MD, to the dermatology team

Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota welcomes Cooper Wriston, MD, to the dermatology team at Sanford Bemidji 1611 Anne Street Clinic.
Dr. Wriston studied biology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA before attending medical school at Duke University in Durham, NC. He acquired valuable experience during his internship with the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC and his residencies with the Department of Dermatology at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, MN and with the University of North Carolina’s Department of Internal Medicine.
Before joining Sanford Health, Dr. Wriston was a dermatologist with the Skin Care Doctors out of Burnsville, MN and was also an assistant professor of dermatology for the Mayo Clinic Health System in Owatonna’s department of dermatology. During his tenure with Mayo, he received the Mayo Clinic’s Patient Excellence Award. This award recognizes departments, divisions and units that score in the top 10 percent in national patient satisfaction surveys within the organization. Dr. Wriston also is certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology.
Available by appointment or referral from another provider, Dr. Wriston specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions of the hair, nails and skin. These conditions can include acne, dandruff, hair loss, nail conditions, skin rash, moles, skin cancer, eczema, psoriasis, signs of aging, sunburns/sunspots, skin allergies, irritated skin and more.
“Whether I’m treating a patient’s life-threatening condition, like melanoma, or just helping them feel more comfortable and confident in their own skin, their best interest is always my top priority when providing care,” shared Dr. Wriston.
Understanding the importance of self-care in order to best care for others, Dr. Wriston spends his free time outdoors hiking and fishing as well as indulging in the arts, such as viewing live performances of jazz music, ballet and orchestra. With music playing a key role in his life, he admits that he also has quite an extensive record collection that he enjoys listening to when he can.
