First City Lions Club members and local author John Eggers have begun distributing the “School is Cool” coloring book sponsored by First City Lions and Project Graduate and illustrated by local artist Kathy Gustafson.

The group hopes to distribute the book to all fourth-graders in Beltrami County. So far, they have delivered the books to Ponemah and Red Lake Elementary Schools, the Red Lake Charter School, St. Mary’s and St. Phillip's Catholic Schools and the Aurora Waasakone Community of Learners, with plans to deliver the books to the other elementary schools in the county in the next few weeks.

"The book's purpose is to make students more aware of the importance of education and to fulfill the No. 1 goal: graduating from high school," Eggers said in a release.
