Calvary Lutheran Church to host annual animal blessing

BEMIDJI -- Calvary Lutheran Church will host a Blessing of the Animals at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5. Owners should have their animals clearly identified in the event of an escape, and have immunizations up to-date.

“Well-behaved animals (under the owner’s physical control, i.e., leash, crate, halter or lead)

which will not pose a physical threat to the people or other animals in attendance are welcome to this special worship service,” according to a press release. If the actual animal is not able to be present, it can be represented by a picture or its collar, leash, food or toy. Deceased pets and animals will be remembered by the lighting of a Memorial Candle. Limited parking will be available; trailers will be permitted in

convenient spaces. Owners are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. Pet treats and water will be available. Great River Rescue will be available to answer questions and supply information.

Calvary Lutheran Church is located at 2508 Washington Ave. SE.
