BEMIDJI -- Minnesota Public Radio will host a show in Bemidji in April that highlights the local economy.

On Tuesday, April 3, Chris Farrell, senior economics contributor at Marketplace and MPR, will be holding the latest in the “Conversations on the Creative Economy” series. In a press release, MPR stated that the discussion will be about Bemidji’s status as a growing entrepreneurial hub.

The audience will be able to learn about the entrepreneurs behind a variety of local ventures. Guests scheduled to speak with Farrell include Tina Kaney, director of internal operations at Bemidji Brewing; Erik Hokuf, general manager of AirCorps Aviation; and Mychal Stittsworth, owner of Stittsworth Meats.

“Conversations on the Creative Economy” is an MPR showcase event to highlight a region’s most intriguing and inspiring stories of entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity, the release said.

The event is open to the public and doors will open for the Bemidji show at 5:30 p.m., with the program at 6 p.m. and networking at 7 p.m. at the Hampton Inn and Suites, located at 1019 Paul Bunyan Drive SW. The show is free and pre-registration is requested at www.mprnews.org/creativeeconomy.

The show will be recorded and broadcast on MPR News stations at a later date. MPR operates 46 radio stations in Minnesota, including MPR News at 91.3 FM and Classical MPR at 88.5 FM in Bemidji.
