BEMIDJI — Calvary Lutheran Church invites animals of every shape and size and their owners to a 30-minute “Blessing of the Animals” service at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, outside the church, which is located at 2508 Washington Ave. SE.
Attendees are asked to have their animals clearly identified in the event of an escape and have up-to-date immunizations.
"Well-behaved animals (under the owner’s physical control, i.e., leash, crate, halter or lead) which will not pose a physical threat to the people or other animals in attendance are welcome to this special worship service," the release said.
"If the actual animal is not able to be present, it can be represented by a picture or its collar, leash, food or toy. Deceased pets and animals will be remembered by the lighting of a Memorial Candle."
Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. Pet treats and water will be available. Great River Rescue will be available to answer questions and supply information. Free-will offerings will be accepted to support Great River Rescue.
