The Bemidji Lions Club recently donated $500 to the Heroes and Helpers program.

The club is set to participate in this year's program, which is a shopping experience for children where each child is given $100 to use at an area store to purchase Christmas gifts for themselves or family members.

Children selected to participate in the program gather to shop with program sponsors from area first responders and Lions. All gifts chosen are wrapped with supplies from the store and attendees will be able to enjoy beverages and snacks, a release said.
