BEMIDJI — The 35th season of the Bemidji Area Church Musicians Summer Recital Series will begin at noon Wednesday, June 1, at Evangelical Free Church, 115 Carr Lake Rd. SW.

The first recital will feature the scholarship recipients from last year. They are Madelune Schutte, trumpet, Gwendoline Youso, piano, and Eric Djonne, vocalist.

These students have been active in music programs in the colleges they attend and have been studying privately and performing with their band or choir, a release said.

There will be 13 recitals throughout the summer in various churches in the area and featuring many talented musicians. Each church selects the people who will be featured, mostly from among their congregation and also from people they invite to participate. Except for the scholarship recipients, BACM does not select the musicians to be featured, the release said.

These 13 recitals are planned to be in-person this season. The recitals will also be recorded for viewing later for those unable to attend in person.
