Carlson to perform at BACM third summer recital

BEMIDJI-Sarah Carlson, organist at First Lutheran Church, will present the next concert in the Recital Series sponsored by the Bemidji Area Church Musicians, at noon on Wednesday, June 19, at First Lutheran Church, 900 Bemidji Ave.

Carlson will demonstrate the sounds of the new Casavant organ at First Lutheran with a variety of composers and musical styles. The 30-minute recital will include works by Paul Hindemith, G. F. Handel, Frederick Swann, Gerald Near, and William Albright. Carlson has organ performance degrees from St. Olaf College and the University of Iowa. She performs locally and internationally and enjoys learning newly written music for the organ, a release said.

A luncheon will follow the concert with a price to be announced. A free-will offering will be received at the door for the Scholarship and Fellowship programs of the Bemidji Area Church

Bemidji Area Women's Luncheon set for June 17

BEMIDJI-Area women are invited to the Christian Women's Dinner at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 17, at the Bemidji Eagles Club, 1270 Neilson Ave. SE, back entrance.

Along with the meal, the program will feature Bemidji Police officer Tabitha Carrigan on how to "Be Smart about Scams." The main speaker for the evening is Tina Young from Watkins, Minn., sharing her story "Joyful Living Surrounded by Grief."

Juneteenth Emancipation Day event

BEMIDJI-The public is invited to join St. Bartholomew's Church and community partners to help mark the abolition of slavery and the continuing work to continue to undertake and dismantle racism. The event will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at St. Bartholomew's Epscopal Church, 1800 Irvine Ave. Attendees can enjoy a free meal, activities and music, and connect with resources such as the Bemidji Community Food Shelf.

Faith Baptist Church to hold 'The Incredible Race'

BEMIDJI-Join the action at Faith Baptist Church for 'The Incredible Race' vacation bible school program to be held from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. June 24-28. Intended for children in kindergarten through sixth-grade (ages 5-12). The program will consist of bible stories, games, crafts, snacks and prizes.
