BACM to hold second concert of summer recitals

BEMIDJI—The 32nd season of the Summer Recital Series presented by the Bemidji Area Church Musicians continues at noon Wednesday, June 12, at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Minnesota Ave. NW. The recital will feature Steve Saari on piano and Philip Hermann on organ and voice. The 30-minute recital program will consist of music for organ and duets for organ and piano. Hermann will sing two sacred vocal solos. Saari, currently serving as organist at First Presbyterian Church, has been a church musician since he was 11, when he served as organist for Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, N.D. He also was organist for First Lutheran Church, Bemidji. Hermann grew up in Georgetown, Minn., and has been a resident in the Bemidji area since 2014. He studied vocal performance and organ at Moorhead State University. He is the organist at Trinity Lutheran Church, Debs, and St. Philip's Church.

A luncheon will follow the concert with a price to be announced.

A free-will offering will be received at the door for the scholarship and fellowship programs of the Bemidji Area Church Musicians.

Bemidji Area Women's Luncheon set for June 17

BEMIDJI—Area women are invited to the Christian Women's Dinner at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 17, at the Eagles Club, 1270 Neilson Ave. SE, back entrance.

Along with the meal, the program will feature police officer Tabitha Carrigan on how to "Be Smart about Scams." The main speaker for the evening is Tina Young from Watkins, Minn. sharing her story "Joyful Living Surrounded by Grief."

Juneteenth Emancipation Day event

BEMIDJI—The public is invited to join St. Bartholomew's Church and community partners to help mark the abolition of slavery and the continuing work to continue to undertake and dismantle racism. The event will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at St. Bartholomew's Epscopal Church, 1800 Irvine Ave. Attendees can enjoy a free meal, activities and music, and connect with resources such as the Bemidji Community Food Shelf.

Guthrie Community Bible Church VBS program

LAPORTE—Guthrie Community Bible Church will be holding a "Giddy-Up Junction" vacation bible school program for children ages 4-12, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, June 10-12. There is no cost to attend. The program will consist of bible stories, music, games, puppets, skits, crafts, and snacks. The church is located at 43948 275th Ave., Laporte. Open Labyrinth schedule at First Lutheran Church

BEMIDJI—First Lutheran Church will have Open Labyrinth any time the church is open, check hours and availability by visiting www.flcbemidji.org or by calling (218) 444-5302. There will be special Open Labyrinth events twice in 2019: Thursday, June 13 and Thursday, Dec. 12, which fall during the Spring and Winter Solstice months.
