USDA Rural Development has money available to finance the purchase or construction of quality homes. Payments may be subsidized, which enables people to purchase a better home while keeping payments affordable.

USDA Rural Development has money available to finance the purchase or construction of quality homes. Payments may be subsidized, which enables people to purchase a better home while keeping payments affordable.

USDA Rural Development also has home improvement loans available for very-low income households. This program has a maximum loan amount of $20,000 and offers a low interest rate of 1 percent. Grants of up to $7,500 may be available to those 62 and older to remove health and safety hazards from their existing homes.

Successful applicants for both programs must not exceed established income guidelines and must have an acceptable credit history and demonstrate repayment ability.
