BLACKDUCK-Good Samaritan Society-Blackduck recently announced that Monica Scheldrup, restorative nurse's aide, was presented with the Employee of the Year Award at a statewide senior care convention held earlier this month in Minneapolis.

"The Employee of the Year Award honors an employee for their contributions that have improved the quality of life for residents and enhanced the working environment for coworkers," a release said.

Scheldrup was chosen "because her work attitude and ethic are amazing; she always has a smile on her face and kind words that support and encourage residents. For over 18 years, Monica has shown compassion, love, and acceptance to all the residents at Blackduck; they identify her as a special person because she respects them, their choices, and who they are individually. Her calming and comforting manner makes the residents feel good," the release said.

"Anyone who works in the health care field for as long as Monica has a special love, respect, and compassion for the residents who live here. Monica shows that daily in her work ethics," commented Terri Hallik, director of housekeeping and laundry, in the release.

Scheldrup was presented with his award during the Celebration of Caring Gala, which was part of the three-day educational convention for long-term care providers.
