BEMIDJI - Sanford Bemidji pediatrician, Dr. Tokunbo Akande, recently received national certification by the American Board of Pediatrics.
To become certified by the board, applicants must have graduated from an accredited medical school, complete three years of pediatric training, have a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine and pass the certifying exam.
Akande joined the pediatric staff at Sanford Bemidji in July. He received his medical degree from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Osogbo, Nigeria. He then completed a masters degree in public health at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore and a pediatric residency at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York.
