The Pamida Foundation announced its 2009 donation of $158,800 to local schools. This donation will be divided among schools or organizations in the communities Pamida serves. Schools and organizations chosen to receive donation dollars were selected by the Pamida stores in their communities. The funds will be used to help maintain quality education.
The Bemidji School District will receive a donation of $750 to enhance various learning programs for its students.
In addition to education, the Pamida Foundation's mission also focuses on health and social services. Each year, the foundation provides assistance to individuals with disabilities, the underprivileged and families in need through food pantries, gift-tree programs and donations to other nonprofit organizations in Pamida communities. Overall, the Pamida Foundation supports more than 900 local charitable organizations.

Bremer grants go to area agencies

The Otto Bremer Foundation awarded 58 grants totaling $2,679,272.00 in January. Fifty grants totaling $2,316,093 support programs and organizations in Minnesota, four totaling $212,780 in North Dakota and three totaling $150,400 in Wisconsin. A complete list of grants by state is included below.
Area recipients were the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe in Cass Lake, which received $175,000 to conduct a statewide survey to end homelessness, and the Mississippi Headwaters Area Dental Health Center in Bemidji, which received $27,200 to build capacities in business and personnel management for the facility.

Organizations whose beneficiaries are residents of Minnesota, North Dakota or Wisconsin are eligible to apply for foundation grants, with priority given to communities served by Bremer Bank.
In 2009 the foundation provided about $24 million in grants and program-related investments.
