Sanford Health welcomes Elizabeth Berg, MD, to walk-in and acute rehabilitation teams

Sanford Health in Bemidji welcomes Elizabeth Berg, MD, to the Walk-in and acute rehabilitation teams.

Dr. Berg will be splitting her time between the Sanford Bemidji Walk-in Clinic and the Acute Rehabilitation Unit in the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, Dr. Berg earned her undergraduate degree in biology with a concentration in women’s studies before going on to medical school at the University of Minnesota in Duluth, MN. Following graduation, she went to St. John’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN, for her residency in family medicine. Dr. Berg is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Prior to joining Sanford Health, Dr. Berg worked with the Peace Corp in Uganda for one and half years before eventually becoming a family medicine physician and practicing medicine at the Essentia Health Lakeside Clinic in Duluth, MN.

At the Walk-in Clinic, Dr. Berg treats patients of all ages who may have a wide variety of ailments, including cold and flu symptoms; coughs and sore throats; earaches; infections, including urinary, sinus and eye; minor cuts, lacerations and burns; skin conditions, including rashes, poison ivy and insect bites; and sprain and strains.

Through her work with the acute rehab team, Dr. Berg works collaboratively with a patient’s care team to provide inpatient physical medicine and rehabilitative care for those recovering from major trauma-induced injuries, including, but not limited to, a stroke, spinal cord injuries, acquired brain injuries and burns.

When asked about her practice, Dr. Berg shared, “I believe the best care is patient-centered care; this happens when we have open communication and understanding of all the factors that contribute to a persons’ wellbeing and work together to develop a treatment plan.”

Excited to be closer to her hometown of Clearbrook, Dr. Berg is glad to be back living in Lake Country. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dog, cross country skiing, biking and paddle boarding.
