Sanford Health welcomes Angela Splettstoeszer, AG-ACNP-BC, to the palliative care team

Sanford Health in Bemidji welcomes Angela Splettstoeszer, AG-ACNP-BC, to the palliative care team at the Sanford Joe Lueken Cancer Center.

Angela received her bachelor’s degrees in nursing and psychology from Crown College in St. Bonifacius, MN, and Miami University in Oxford, OH. She went on to earn her master’s in nursing as a family medicine practitioner and as an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO.

Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Angela worked as a registered nurse in acute rehabilitation, telemetry and surgical critical care for Altru Health System in Grand Forks, ND. She joined Sanford Health in 2016 as a team lead RN and a critical care/ICU nurse at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

In her new role with Sanford, Angela helps patients through all stages of illness with Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure, disorders of the blood, bone marrow and lymphatic systems, kidney disease and Parkinson’s disease. Working in collaboration with a patient’s care team, she provides symptom management and support for emotional, spiritual and physical needs of patients and their families.

When asked about the care she provides, Angela shared, “I believe in the importance of working with and educating both the patient and their family to enhance their quality of life.”

In addition to her practice, Angela enjoys spending as much time as possible out on the lake with her family. During the cooler months, she and her husband cheer on their two children who are active in hockey and figure skating.
