Malissia Jones joined the team at the Occupational Development Center (ODC) last month as employment specialist.
With a B.S. in business administration from Bemidji State University, along with over five years of experience in the human services field, Malissia hopes to infuse her role with a unique blend of professional, creative, and cultural backgrounds to connect and build relationships with clients and community employers.
“I enjoy helping people establish their employment and education goals,” Malissia said. She seeks the learning opportunities that await her, already taking advantage of comprehensive training offered by ODC. “It’s a very supportive environment here,” she said, one of the things that initially attracted her to this position.
Her multicultural roots are evident in the jewelry she crafts from natural materials. “I am not only connected to this area through my Ojibwe heritage,” she said, “but also through my German and Black cultural identity.” She looks forward to contributing her talents. Read more: odcmn.org.
