Sanford Health welcomes Emmanuel Erestain, MD, to the internal medicine team

Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota welcomes Emmanuel O. Erestain, MD, to the internal medicine team at Sanford Bemidji Main Clinic. 

Dr. Erestain (pronounced Eh-ruh-stain), nicknamed “Dr. E” by his patients, has zealously centered his practice of Medicine and physician-patient relationship on the core principles of Commitment, Compassion and Competence.

According to Dr. E, “I always ensure to dedicate myself to providing the best medical care for all my patients. I regard each and every one of my patients as family. Together, we will strive to become healthier individuals. I will be with you every step of the way as we achieve our goal towards healing and comfort.”

Dr. Erestain specializes in the diagnoses and treatment of both simple and complex diseases and injuries of the internal organ systems. These include, but not limited to, cardiac diseases and hypertension, diabetes, infectious diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, thyroid problems, adult health exams, medication management and even the common cold.

Before Dr. E’s arrival at Sanford Bemidji, he had quite a few noteworthy stops along the way. He received his internal medicine residency training specializing in both inpatient and outpatient care at the Hennepin HealthCare (previously known as the Hennepin County Medical Center) in downtown Minneapolis. Prior to residency training, he also gained valued medical experience through extensive mentoring and hands-on education from various Physicians at the clinics and bedside through an observership program at Wahiawa General Hospital and a Preceptorship Program both in Oahu, Hawaii. He also completed a year of Medical Internship at the Makati Medical Center in the Philippines before deciding to come to the United States for further training.

Dr. E earned his doctorate degree and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Philippines.

New to Northern Minnesota, Dr. E looks forward the most in exploring the local lakes, trails, parks and beaches with his wife. As an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys hiking, biking, fishing and sky diving during the warmer months, while he enjoys downhill skiing and snow shoeing during the winter.
