Sanford Health welcomes Sarah Tarutis, DNP-BC, to behavioral health
Sarah Tarutis, DNP-BC, recently joined the behavioral health team at the Sanford 1705 Anne St. Clinic. Sarah earned her bachelors in nursing from Bemidji State University in 1999, after working as an associate degree nurse at a long-term psychiatric facility (1989-2005). She earned a masters in nursing in 2003 and a clinical doctorate in 2007 from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus. Before joining Sanford, Sarah taught in the nursing program at Bemidji State University from 2010-2018 and worked as a clinical provider at the Sanford Behavioral Health Unit from 2003-2018. She also maintained a private practice (Rural Minnesota Behavioral Health Services, Inc.) most recently working with a variety of practitioners at True North in Bemidji. Sarah is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an advanced practice nurse in adult psychiatry-mental health. Sarah is available for referral specializing in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders with interest and expertise in complicated geriatric patient concerns. She also has experience in alternative and functional medicine approaches for treating early cognitive loss in Alzheimer’s patients along with a certification in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia. Sarah is a certified buprenorphine treatment practitioner and is training in neurofeedback as an alternative treatment for disorders including depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. She is proud to be helping build Sanford’s footprint in this region to improve access to mental health care in the inpatient and outpatient settings. “I offer a safe and open environment for clients to share insight into what may be causing their illness and what may help them heal,” said Sarah. “I am a strong believer in the Theory of Modeling and role-Modeling in my client partnerships to help gain a better perspective of what care they need to help facilitate their growth, healing and self-empowerment.” In her spare time, she enjoys entertaining and spending time on her hobby farm that consists of three chickens and two dogs as well as spending time with her grandchildren.
