BEMIDJI – After fishing for about three hours, Carl Knutson knew he and his fishing mate, Brad Davis, had a good chance at claiming the ultimate victory in Saturday’s 13th annual Kraus-Anderson Walleye Classic. And as it turns out, that feeling was correct. The last of 100 teams to have their catch of five fish weighed-in, Knutson and Davis claimed the title of 2013 champions with a weight of 16.74 pounds, their heaviest fish weighing 5.02 pounds. "It was a really good day," Knutson said, just as his catch was being weighed.
BEMIDJI — The Kraus-Anderson Walleye Classic was not limited to avid fishermen Saturday, as children had the chance to partake in a casting contest, one of many family activities to accompany the 13th annual charity event. With family activities kicking off at 11 a.m., community members began to arrive at the Lake Bemidji Waterfront for a day of food, fun and fishing. BEMIDJI — Officials from the Beltrami County License Center are preparing to make changes to their marriage licenses in order to accommodate the state Legislature’s decision to legalize gay marriage. Debbie Reierson, division director for the Beltrami County License Center, said marriage licenses for gay couples in Beltrami County will not be available until July, due to a records system software update that must take place in order to generate the licenses.
