ST. PAUL -- A woman is dead and a man is in custody following the report of a shooting Friday evening, March 9, in the Greater East Side neighborhood of St. Paul. The shooting report came in about 5:45 p.m. from the 1900 block of Cottage Avenue East, according to St. Paul police Sgt. Mike Ernster. Officers arrived to find a woman with an apparent gunshot wound. St. Paul paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS—Minnesota added 2,500 jobs in January, according to the latest employment figures released Thursday, March 8, by the state Department of Employment and Economic Development. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January held steady at 3.3 percent. The U.S. rate is 4.1 percent. "While job growth over the past year was slower than earlier data suggested, the economy is still growing and businesses are hiring," said DEED Commissioner Shawntera Hardy. Minnesota's job count was 2,946,200 in January.
