ST. CLOUD -- For the first time in Bemidji High School history, the boys soccer team is headed to the Class A state semifinals and is guaranteed a top-four finish at the state tournament. Junior and leading scorer Silas Hess buried the lone goal of the Jacks quarterfinal game, leading Bemidji to a hardfought 1-0 upset victory over No. 3 Mahtomedi on Wednesday at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud.
ST. CLOUD -- The Bemidji High School girls soccer team had its season come to an end Wednesday, as the Lumberjacks dropped their Class A state quarterfinal game, 6-0, to defending champion No. 1 Mahtomedi at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud.
BEMIDJI -- After falling 3-0 to No. 3 Mahtomedi in the Class A state quarterfinals a year ago, the Bemidji High School girls soccer team once again drew the defending state champion Zephyrs as their first round opponent this year, and Mahtomedi is favored to win it again as the top seed this time. Today’s contest kicks off at 5:30 p.m. at Husky Stadium at St. Cloud State.
BEMIDJI -- Is the third time the charm? The Bemidji High School boys soccer team sure hopes so. The Lumberjacks (17-2-1) are making their third consecutive Class A state tournament appearance at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 against No. 3 Mahtomedi (16-2).
BEMIDJI -- For the 11th time this fall, the Bemidji High School boys and girls soccer teams are playing a back-to-back on Wednesday, Oct. 24, only this time it’ll be at the Class A state tournament against Mahtomedi. The Lumberjack girls (14-4-2) take on the Zephyrs at 5:30 p.m. at the Husky Stadium on the campus of St. Cloud State with the boys (17-2-1) to follow at 7:30.
BEMIDJI -- Shooting from the penalty kick spot for the win, Katie Alto tucked the game winner in the corner of the net, sealing the Lumberjacks’ berth to the Class A state tournament for the second straight year. After 80 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtimes ended with a 1-1 tie, the Section 8A Championship went to a shootout, and Bemidji executed nearly to perfection.
BEMIDJI -- For the third straight season, the Bemidji High School boys soccer team is bound for the Class A state tournament. Silas Hess scored three goals in the first half to lead the Lumberjacks to a 3-1 win over Sartell-St. Stephen in the Section 8A championship Thursday at Chet Anderson Stadium. “It feels great,” Hess said. “We obviously have put in a lot of work ever since we were little. I think it’s well deserved for the boys.”
BEMIDJI -- On Oct. 19 last year, the Bemidji High School boys and girls soccer teams both won Section 8A titles on the campus of St. Cloud State. Tonight, they hope to accomplish the same feat, this time in their home town, as they each take on Sartell-St. Stephen in their respective championship games. The Bemidji boys will open the day with a 6:15 p.m. start at Chet Anderson Stadium, with the girls to follow at 8.
ST CLOUD -- Despite a lack of playoff implications, the Bemidji High School football team finished its regular season in dramatic fashion Friday night, defeating St. Cloud Tech, 31-30, in overtime at Huskie Stadium on the campus of St. Cloud State. The Tigers (5-3) played the contest without their regular starting quarterback, junior Nate Trewick, and instead ran a wildcat-type formation with running backs Troy Feddema and Kedrik Osuorah.
BEMIDJI -- The Crusaders didn’t make it easy, but the North No.1 seeded Bemidji High School boys soccer team battled through a physical Section 8A semifinal game en route to a 4-2 win over South No. 2 St. Cloud Cathedral on Tuesday at Chet Anderson Stadium.
