DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Three area golf courses were closed around Detroit Lakes on Wednesday due to damage caused by overnight storms. Forest Hills, Lakeview Golf Course and Detroit Country Club were all shut down to clean up downed trees. The Country Club was hit the worst with areas on the lake side of the course looking more like a war zone than golf course. The heaviest damage was on the back nine holes, but trees were uprooted all along the course with 15 trees alone uprooted by the green on No. 3 and tee box and fairway of hole No. 4 on the south side.

The decision to sell was made in early December, but not easily.
