The Kelliher City Council met in the council chambers at city hall April 5 for its regular meeting. Mayor Darin Latterell called the meeting to order with councilmembers Don Erickson, Laura Nelson, Victoria Rabe and Ramona Gehlert present.
The Blackduck City Council met April 5 minus two councilors and a very short agenda, ending the meeting in under 25 minutes. There was no one present to address the council during the public forum so Mayor Scott Palmer moved along to the consent agenda. Following the approval of the consent agenda, Palmer moved on to the correspondence received. In a very proud moment, it was noted that the Blackduck Fire Department had received a note of thanks from Bemidji Fire Chief David Hoefer. The department was thanked for their assistance March 22 at the Regency Park South apartment fire in Bemidji
Members of the Blackduck City Council met March 22 discussing among other things, raising the rates at the Blackduck Municipal Golf Course. Most rates at the golf course were increased over last year's rates, however, some remained the same. Staying the same as last year were the rates for seasonal cart storage, seasonal trail fees and the new electric cart hookups.

Council member Vicky Rabe was absent. Also present for the meeting were city staff members City Clerk Dianna Thurlow, Head Bartender Tom Heck and Public Works Superintendent Chuck Schultz. The Northome City Council met in special session Feb.
The Blackduck City Council met with all members present Feb. 22 to discuss fire contracts and the city's possible water and wastewater projects. Blackduck Fire Chief Rick Bogart came before the council to bring them up to date on fire department issues. "We gave 10 firemen who need firefighting one and two training," he said. ""We will also be having a training class in Blackduck starting in March. All we need is a house to do a controlled burn on." He also mentioned that the first responder course was just wrapping up. Bogart also told the council that they need a few local firemen.

The Drakes boys basketball team took down a competitive Pine River team Feb. 8, winning 52-51. "The boys played hard in this game until the end," said Head Coach Grant Mistic. "Alex Lossing hit a shot with just under 10 seconds left to put us in the lead." Scoring for Blackduck was Josh RedDay with 26 points and six rebounds followed by Trey Volk with eight points and six rebounds, Nick Liapis with 8 points and five rebounds, Todd Kallroos put in 4 points and had four rebounds and Alex Lossing, Brandon Beck and Michael Dexter each added 2 points.
Vendors -- It's not too late to sign up for a booth at the Blackduck Chamber of Commerce fifth annual Sport and Trade Show, set for Feb. 27 in the Blackduck School multi-purpose room. The show is scheduled from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. with food, booths, seminars, raffles and much more! Admission is free to the public. Vendors are asked to register by Jan. 31 by calling city hall at 835-4803 or Daryl Lundberg at 835-5665. "The girls again kept working hard," said Blackduck head coach Tom Liapis, of the Lady Drakes 70-38 loss to Clearbrook/Gonvick Jan. 19. Mollie Exner led the way for Blackduck with 16 points and nine rebounds, followed by Jamie Magoon with 6 points and five rebounds, Siera Savich who also put in 6 points and had five rebounds and Sam Mistic who had 6 points and three rebounds. Tatum Mistic and Taylor Sparby each added 2 points with Mistic having three rebounds.
