Charlotte "Corky" Ann Rognstad, 80, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, in Granite Falls, following a battle against cancer. She was born on Aug. 17, 1928 in Nora Springs, Iowa to Frank and Mary Jane (Curphey) Dunham. She attended Park Rapids public schools and graduated in 1946. On June 27, 1948 she married Morrie Rognstad. They had four children. She worked for a number of years at Munsingwear in Park Rapids.
Ida Hoge, 96, of Baldwin, N.D., died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009. She married Paul Hoge and farmed in North Dakota for many years. She watched the farm grow from 300 acres to more than 16,000 acres at one time.
Anna Alice Fix, 90, of Park Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids. She was born on Jan. 31, 1918 in Orange County, Calif. to Ivan and Josephine (Eklund) Park. She attended public school there and graduated from Orange Public High School in 1936. She married Roman F. Fix in 1940. They had two daughters and two sons. They made their home in California. She worked as a cook in a rest home in Santa Anna, Calif., and also as a presser for a dry cleaner in California.

Alvin "Spoody" James Bloom Jr., 44, of Ponsford, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids. He was born Aug. 12, 1964 in Park Rapids to Alvin, Sr. and Theresa (Lussier) Bloom. He attended school in Park Rapids. He worked as a game warden for the White Earth RTC before joining the police academy in Arizona. He married Renee in Osage in 1984. He was in law enforcement with Red Lake for one year and then moved to Ponsford. He was employed with Shooting Star Casino as lead security from 1991 to 1998.
Mavea Julia Kittelson, 91, of Elk River, formerly of Nevis, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at Guardian Angel Care Center in Elk River. She was born Feb. 28, 1917 in St. Paul to Harrison E. and Bethel M. (Cochrane) Domrese. She grew up and attended school in Minneapolis and St. Paul. She went on to attend and graduate from Miss Wood's Kindergarten and Primary Training School, which is now Macalester College in St. Paul. After receiving her teaching certificate she taught at the elementary school in Nevis. She married Stanley B. Kittelson on Feb. 8, 1947. They lived in St.
Dorothy Jean Grewe, 86, of Deer Creek Township, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at her home. She was born Oct. 24, 1922 to Fred and Alma (Gossell) Holm in Fort Collins, Colo. She married Helmer Grewe on Sept. 5, 1942 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett Township. She worked at Security State Bank in Deer Creek for 33 years.
June Josephine Tretbar, 74, of Osage, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. She was born May 21, 1934 to Albert and Nellie (Kropp) Terhark in Todd Township near Park Rapids. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Park Rapids and also taught Sunday school there. She attended school in Park Rapids and graduated with the class of 1952. She was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone operator for five years. She married Lloyd Tretbar, of Ponsford, on May 21, 1957 in the pastor's parsonage in Detroit Lakes.
