Nick Giles, 11, of Bemidji, smiles after completing a mini-solo Wednesday at the fifth annual Drumset Camp at the Headwaters School of Music. A total of 24 campers are developing their drumming skills as a group and through private lessons. The camp concludes Friday with a 3 p.m. concert for families and friends.

Eight Dragon Boats arrived early Monday and were unloaded thanks to heavy equipment from Diversified Builders, members of the Bemidji Rotary and Dragon Boat committee members. Practices will be held all week with races Friday night and Saturday for the 2013 Lake Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival.

The demolition of Maple Hall at Bemidji State University began this week. Crews from Landwehr Construction are recycling the materials as they tear the building down. The project also calls for the renovation of Decker and Memorial halls.

Ruth Dokken, a member of the Headwaters Quilters Guild counts the spirals on a quilt made by Bonnie Brost, Erskine, Minn., on Thursday afternoon. The 50 members of the Headwaters Quilters Guild will host their Quilters Show featuring more than 200 quilts 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Evangelical Free Church. The guild is raffling a group quilt that recently won first place at the 36th annual Minnesota Quilters Guild in Duluth.

"Red" Wilson, former Bemidji High School head football coach and athletic director from 1939-1972, donated many of his sports memorabilia to the Beltrami County History Center on Monday morning.
