BEMIDJI — Record Store Day was celebrated Saturday at Brigid’s Pub with a pop-up record store and live music. The event was hosted by Northern Community Radio (KAXE/KBXE). According to the Record Store Day website, it “was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally.” The first Record Store Day event took place in 2008.
BEMIDJI -- A comedy show scheduled for Saturday at the Sanford Center was officially canceled this afternoon, despite a plea from the comedian, Ralphie May, to keep the act on the schedule with proceeds going to charity.
BEMIDJI—Comedian Ralphie May has some advice for people on what to expect from his upcoming show on Saturday: He is a dirty comic who doesn't mind being offensive. "I'm a dirty, filthy animal, so if you're overly sensitive, I'm not the show for you. Just stay home and watch 'Seinfeld' reruns," May said during an interview with the Pioneer. "I've always liked being a dirty comic. At least it's honest. Look at (Bill) Cosby, he never told a dirty joke in his life and look at what kind of creepo he turned out to be."
