BEMIDJI -- Many companies say they want to make a push toward better environmental policies for their business. But for Harmony Co-Op in Bemidji, those practices are right in the company's mission statement. The co-op unveiled its new solar awning project Friday afternoon. The 15 new solar panels now hang outside the co-op's signature, what else, green and blue building at 302 Irvine Ave. NW.
BEMIDJI -- One thing is for sure, 4 Kings Comfort BBQ & Catering is a family business. Beth and Christopher Warrick (who are in-laws, Beth is married to Chris' brother Pat Warrick) run the business from a food truck at various locations in Bemidji. Beth owns it, and Chris is the chef. BEMIDJI -- Four suspects in a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking organization were arrested in Beltrami County on Tuesday. Philip Eugene Gurzi 54, and Tamara Sue Halverson 44, of Puposky; Shawn Elston Jackson, 46, and Raymond Jesse Nibbe Jr., 56 of Bemidji were arrested and taken to the Beltrami County jail. BEMIDJI -- Over at Rail River Folk School, a food truck operates on the weekends, selling locally-made burritos from organic ingredients. The food is made by the two owners/operators, Leslie Arndt and Julia Oxenreider. The place has a unique name: Foiled Rotten. "My friend came up with it a long time ago," Oxenrider said.
