BEMIDJI -- Kristine Grenier knew it would take an exemplary effort from the Bemidji State women’s hockey team to snap Minnesota-Duluth’s nine-game winning streak. “These girls were coming in here...
BEMIDJI -- Of all the empty-netters scored on the Bemidji State hockey team this season, Sean Walker's one hurt the Beavers the most. With BSU trailing 2-1 and under a minute left against Bowling Green, Walker picked up a loose puck right in front of his goaltender and blindly turned and whipped the puck off the boards. A puck that normally would have been a simple clearance -- perhaps an icing call -- bounced all the right ways, and, eventually, into the open net to put the Falcons up 3-1. "Whenever a guy turns around and fires it off the boards and goes the empty net it's not something th
BEMIDJI -- After another week off, the Bemidji State women's hockey team gets another crack at a top-10 team this weekend at the Sanford Center. Minnesota-Duluth comes to Bemidji this weekend riding a nine-game winning streak and a 10-4-2 record. It's all par for the course for BSU in the WCHA this season: It's the third-straight ranked team the Beavers have played The only difference this week, however, is a big one: The Beavers are also a top-10 team. For the first time since the 2011-12 season, the Beavers are ranked in both polls (No. 10 in USCHO and No.
BEMIDJI -- Spend any amount of time with Leo, Myles and Gerry Fitzgerald and it becomes clear -- choosing hockey instead of acting was the right choice. Yes, the Bemidji State freshmen are triplets. And the three starred in a terrible movie when they were young boys. And ever since they started to excel as players, they've taken questions about both hockey and Hollywood. "It gets pretty tired sometimes," Leo admitted. "We try to avoid that stuff. We like to be looked at as individuals. And obviously we're not big fans of the movie.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Bemidji State gave up two early special teams goals to No. 18 Bowling Green and couldn't rally from that early deficit, as the Falcons held on to beat the Beavers 3-2 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action at the BGSU Ice Arena. The Beavers outshot the Falcons 37-26 and carried the play for the final 40 minutes but couldn't find a way to snap their six-game losing streak. "I can't believe we're 0-6 in our last six games," BSU head coach Tom Serratore told Beaver Radio Network following the game.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- For the second straight game, the Bemidji State hockey team couldn't hold a lead against a ranked team. After BSU took a 1-0 lead into the second period, No.
BEMIDJI — It would have been difficult for the Bemidji State men’s hockey team to have played much better than they did last weekend against No. 1 Michigan Tech. The...
BEMIDJI — For two days in January, the Bemidji State basketball teams are taking their talents elsewhere. The Sanford Center isn't quite South Beach, but the South Shore of Lake Bemidji is close enough. The Beaver men and women will each play a pair of games at the Sanford Center Jan. 16-17, Minnesota State Mankato on Friday and Concordia-St. Paul on that Saturday. It will be the first time the BSU basketball programs have played in the facility, which opened in 2010. "I wanted to try and do something a bit different," BSU athletic director Tracy Dill said.
