This weekend BSU men's hockey team embarks on its most grueling roadtrip of the season -- the long jaunt to Fairbanks, Alaska, to take on the Alaska Nanooks. It's supposed to be a 14-hour trip when all is said and done and the Beavers were scheduled to land in Fairbanks on Thursday morning at around 2 a.m. Alaska Time -- 5 a.m. Central. "I feel like it's one of those things that everyone thinks it's going to be so long that it ends up not being as bad as we think," sophomore center Cory Ward said. "You can't think too much about it."
BEMIDJI -- Another weekend, another top-five opponent for the BSU women's hockey team. After a sweep at the hands of No. 2 Wisconsin last weekend at the Sanford Center the Beavers travel to Grand Forks, N.D., this weekend for another series against a ranked opponent in No. 3 North Dakota. "They're both great teams," BSU junior forward Alex Citrowske said of facing the No. 2 and No. 3-ranked teams on successive weekends. "They're both really fast teams and both at the top of the leaderboard statistically.
EAST GRAND FORKS — Rachel Holm’s unassisted goal at the 6 minute, 20 second mark tied things up for Bemidji, and the Lumberjacks’ girls basketball team rallied for a 2-2...
SAUK RAPIDS -- Jack Johnson scored twice as Bemidji defeated Sauk Rapids-Rice 4-1 Tuesday night. In a penalty-filled game that saw the teams combine for 40 minutes of time in the sin bin, it was Sauk Rapids (10-7) that scored first on Travis Kothenbeutel's goal just 1 minute, 34 seconds into play. But the Lumberjacks (8-9) rallied and scored the next two goals of the second period just 50 seconds apart from one another.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. — The BSU men’s hockey team knew North Dakota’s scoring depth would be a major factor in this weekend’s nonconference series. And although Andrew Walsh’s 42-save performance...
BEMIDJI — It’s hard to say exactly which of Andrew Walsh’s 42 saves meant most to the BSU men’s hockey team Friday night against North Dakota. Maybe it was his...
BEMIDJI — As the BSU women’s hockey team will readily admit, they weren’t as prepared as they should have been last time they played Wisconsin. The Beavers (9-11-2, 6-9-1 Western...
BEMIDJI -- The last time North Dakota visited Bemidji, the team from Grand Forks was still known as the Fighting Sioux and still played in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. That also happens to be the last time the BSU men's hockey team beat UND -- a tight 1-0 victory Nov. 20, 2011, at Sanford Center. The Beavers will get another chance to defeat UND in front of their home fans tonight at the Sanford Center -- the first game of a home-and-home non conference series this weekend. The teams make the short return trip down U.S. Highway 2 Saturday night in Grand Forks.
BEMIDJI -- BSU's struggling power play finally came back to life. The Beavers, who were held scoreless in nine tries on the man advantage in their Jan. 3-4 series against Northern Michigan, found a big fix last weekend against Lake Superior State. BSU scored four times in 11 chances against the Lakers, with Brendan Harms and Matt Prapavessis scoring two goals apiece. Perhaps not coincidentally, the Beavers swept the Lakers with 5-2 and 3-1 victories.
