ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Freshman Abby Halluska a goal and two assists and sophomore Lisa Laiti added three more helpers as the Bemidji State women's hockey team beat Rochester Institute of Technology, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon. The victory earned the Beavers the nonconference road sweep and sent them into the holiday break with an 8-11-1 overall record. Senior goaltender Brittini Mowat made 23 saves for BSU.

It's been three weeks since the Bemidji State football team ended its regular season with a 76-13 rout of Minnesota Crookston. That gave the Beavers ample time to prepare for their second-ever trip to the Mineral Water Bowl. But it also left them feeling anxious in anticipation of their matchup with Washburn (Kan.) in today's game. The Beavers take on the Ichabods at noon today at Tiger Stadium in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
BEMIDJI—If there's one phrase that makes a goaltender cringe—aside, of course, from "good goal"—it's "hip injury." Jesse Wilkins has experienced two of those in his Bemidji State career. "The hips hurt," Wilkins said of the painful injury that kept him sidelined from the ice for nearly two seasons. "Especially trying to sprawl out for desperation saves, you need some healthy hips."
BEMIDJI—The Homark Homes Hardwood Showcase is even bigger this year. The second-annual high school basketball event at the Sanford Center will feature nine games with both boys and girls basketball teams from around the area. The event kicks off Friday at the Sanford Center with a 4 p.m. game between Walker-Hackensack-Akeley and Sebeka and ends Saturday night with games between the Red Lake and Fosston boys and girls teams. Last year's event featured just six games.
BEMIDJI—When Bemidji State's quarterback starts yelling at his center (or vice versa), don't worry. It's not personal. It's just family. Jesse Hein, BSU's 6-foot-1, 305-pound starting center, snaps the ball to Jordan, BSU's junior quarterback, more than 60 times per game. It's a productive relationship—but they aren't always smiling. "Some people kinda laugh at us," said Jesse. "We disagree sometimes but it's just us communicating. People think we're fighting all the time but we're just trying to get things accomplished."
BEMIDJI -- The accolades keep rolling in as the Bemidji State men’s hockey team’s Western Collegiate Hockey Association unbeaten streak hits 12. After yet another series sweep -- this time...
