IRONTON—A 30-year-old Brainerd man died early Monday morning in a head-on, two-vehicle collision on Highway 210 near Crow Wing County Road 59 in Ironton. The man killed was identified as Richard D. Van Horn, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
PEQUOT LAKES—A hit-and-run crash Wednesday night sent a bicyclist to the hospital and tips from the public sent a man to jail Thursday. About 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office received a call of a traffic crash in which a bicyclist was struck by a full-size truck on the 5900 block of Wild Acres Road, Pequot Lakes.
The Duluth Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating a 52-year-old man who has not been seen in nearly three weeks. Roger Wayne Swanson was last seen at about 2 p.m. on Aug. 1 in the downtown Duluth area, authorities said. He was reported missing later that night. Police said Swanson has a serious medical condition and likely has not had access to the medication that he needs several times daily.
AMHERST, Wis. -- A farmer in eastern Wisconsin has died after being overcome by deadly fumes from a manure holding tank on his farm.. The Portage County coroner said Wednesday that Michael Biadasz, 29, was found dead Monday along with at least 13 cows at Biadasz Farms near Amherst, which is about 140 miles northwest of Milwaukee..
ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is looking for artists to design the state’s pheasant stamp. The pheasant stamp validation for hunting is $7.50 and is required for pheasant hunters ages 18 to 64. For an extra 75 cents, purchasers can receive the validation as well as the pictorial stamp in the mail. It also is sold as a collectible. Revenue from stamp sales is dedicated to pheasant management and habitat work.
ST. PAUL – Minnesota employers added 11,300 jobs in July, according to seasonally adjusted figures released Thursday by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, but the jobless rate ticked up. Those figures, combined with revised data that showed the state gained 2,400 more jobs than originally reported in June, brought employment gains in the state to 44,034 over the past year, an increase of 1.5 percent. Jobs nationally climbed 1.7 percent over the past year.

GRAND RAPIDS -- An Itasca County man who pled guilty to a manslaughter charge last month was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Emery James Jenkins, 39, of rural Deer River, received the maximum sentence for first-degree manslaughter Wednesday after entering an Alford plea in July to a charge of first-degree manslaughter in the October 2014 death of his 2½-month-old son, Joseph.
A suspect was identified and the investigation continues involving an assault with a hatchet Saturday near the Oak Point area of Leech Lake in rural Cass Lake. Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch Tuesday said investigators made contact with the suspect, the victim, a 52-year-old Cass Lake man and witnesses of the incident. Burch said the suspect has not been arrested and formal charges may be pending with the Cass County Attorney's Office.
