SHELLY, Minn.—A man was sent to the hospital Thursday afternoon after a vehicle rear-ended a semitrailer near Shelly. Kendall Zenteno, of Shelly, was northbound about 2 p.m. on U.S. Highway 75 when his vehicle, a Chevy Trailblazer, hit an International 9200 Series semi driven by Thomas Strand of Perley, Minn., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. State troopers responded to the crash at 290th Avenue, which is about 2 miles south of Shelly.
The Hollywood gossip machine set its sights on the Northland on Thursday, amid reports that Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their kids stopped at the International Falls airport just a day before the couple separated. Pitt, Jolie and their family flew into a Minnesota airport on Sept. 14 — and gossip website TMZ, citing unnamed sources, reported that the stop came after Pitt became verbally and physically abusive to his children while on the private flight from France to the U.S.

STARBUCK, Minn. -- Five people were injured -- two critically -- in an airboat crash about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, in Outlet Creek in Pope County near Starbuck and transported to a Glenwood hospital. The victims, all from Glenwood, are Jason Meulebroeck, 38, Nicolas Gugisberg, 38, Jesse Koob, 37, Isaac Schiffler, 38, and Travis McCrory, 38, according to the Pope County Sheriff's Office. Starbuck is about 25 miles south of Alexandria.
CROOKSTON, Minn. -- A 60-year-old Crookston woman faces felony charges after allegedly throwing a cup of coffee on a city police officer who was attempting to assist her at a mental health hospital. Joan Marie Helsene-Sydow has been charged with fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, a felony, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, in Polk County District Court.

DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—The Becker County Sheriff's Office has released the identity of a Lake Park man who died following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, Sept. 20, in Becker County. James Nesius, 71, was the driver of a pickup that was traveling on Becker County Highway 2 about 7:28 a.m. Tuesday when the pickup went into the oncoming traffic lane and collided with a semi, the Sheriff's Office said.
ADA, Minn. -- A Detroit Lakes man was killed in a crash near Ada late Monday night, Sept. 19. At approximately 11:30 p.m., a semi was travelling east on county Highway 39, turning onto Highway 24.
A 22-year-old Duluth man faces two felony charges of first-degree burglary after allegedly breaking into two West Duluth homes while the residents were sleeping earlier this month.
