ROCHESTER, Minn. -- United Airlines will begin service June 8 out the Rochester International Airport. The airline will operate three daily flights to and from its hub at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. “This service will provide 150 new departing seats per day, which is a capacity increase of 35 percent for our community” said John Reed, Rochester International’s executive director.
WILLMAR, Minn. – An 8-month-old child was found safe over the weekend after law enforcement received a call about a possible child abduction. The investigation is still ongoing, and a suspect is being held in the Kandiyohi County Jail on charges of kidnapping.
A 23-year-old Grand Rapids woman pleaded guilty Friday, Feb. 24 in Itasca County District Court in the stabbing and beheading death of a Hibbing man last June . In exchange for a guilty plea and her future testimony, Kayleene Danielle Greniger avoided facing trial on a first-degree murder charge, which comes with the potential for life in prison.

DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—A 56-year-old Detroit Lakes woman has been identified as the person who died Saturday, Feb. 18, after a train struck her. Lynn Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene. Detroit Lakes police and paramedics responded about 9 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe oil train near Washington Avenue and U.S. Highway 10. Upon arrival at the scene, officers and paramedics found the victim on the railroad tracks. Traffic on the rail corridor through Detroit Lakes was stopped for several hours.
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. -- A woman is dead after being hit by a train in Detroit Lakes. At around 9 p.m. Saturday, Detroit Lakes police and paramedics responded to a report of an accident involving a pedestrian at a crossing at Washington Avenue and U.S. Highway 10, which is within sight of the town’s train station and downtown. Upon arrival at the scene, officers and paramedics found the victim just west of Washington Avenue on the railroad tracks.
MONTEVIDEO, Minn. — The January death of a Montevideo 11-day-old baby is now being investigated as a homicide, police said Thursday. Feb. 16. In a news release, Montevideo Police Chief Adam Christopher said the baby died Jan. 18 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. The baby had been transported there by family around 10 p.m. Rescue attempts by hospital staff were unsuccessful. An autopsy at the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office in Anoka followed, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called in to assist with the investigation.
PEQUOT LAKES, Minn. — A 60-year-old Pequot Lakes man was killed Thursday morning, Feb. 16, when the truck he was driving hit a semitrailer head-on on Highway 371, south of Pequot Lakes.
Kittson County, Minn. -- A young woman was taken to the hospital after a truck rolled on top of her. Minnesota State Patrol says 20-year-old Tierny Knapp of Lancaster, Minn. was going south on Highway 75 just outside of Humboldt, Minn. around 9 p.m. on Wednesday night. She lost control, slid onto the shoulder and rolled. The truck ended up on its wheels with Knapp underneath. She was taken to Altru hospital, but is expected to be ok.
ST. HILAIRE, Minn. — A Thief River Falls, Minn., woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday in Pennington County. Mary Louise Reierson, 62, died of injuries she received in a crash that happened at 4:50 p.m. about 2 miles north of St. Hilaire, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. She was driving a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country north on Minnesota Highway 32 when she met a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Julie Rose Good, 18, of Thief River Falls.
