GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Parts of northern Minnesota dropped into the 30s below zero Sunday morning, as a blast of arctic air brought the lowest temperatures of the season so far. But after temperatures in most of the region failed to climb above zero on Sunday, a big warmup is on the way this week: Southwest winds are forecast to help readings climb to near 20 today and perhaps into the 30s on Tuesday.
BRAINERD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State Patrol identified a Brainerd woman as the person killed when a semitrailer and passenger car collided on Business Highway 371 Friday afternoon. Linda K. Marolt, 62, died as a result of the crash reported at 3:15 p.m. at Business Highway 371 and Brent Drive, south of Brainerd, the State Patrol reported. The car Marolt was driving, a 1999 Honda Accord, was totaled. Marolt was wearing a seat belt and the airbag deployed.
Sanford Health has identified it's most popular names for newborns in 2016. The top-five baby names are as followed: Girls: Harper Nora Emma Claire Amelia and Ava (tied for fifth) Boys: William Owen Isaac Liam Noah and Benjamin (tied for fifth) Harper is named the most popular name for girls this year after not ranking in 2015.
VIRGINIA - A Nett Lake man was sentenced Monday to more than 30 years in prison in the April 2014 slaying of a Virginia man. Anthony James Isham received the 363-month sentence from Sixth Judicial District Judge James Florey on Monday morning in State District Court in Virginia. Isham, 45, pleaded guilty last month to intentional second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 28-year-old Harley Jacka.

Frigid conditions have brought thicker ice to Minnesota lakes in recent days -- but conditions may not be safe for driving on frozen lakes, as one driver found out over the weekend. A truck went through the ice Saturday on Big Pine Lake near Perham, the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office reported. Authorities said the Ford F-150 was still in the lake as of Sunday evening.
ST. PAUL -- A look ahead to the 2017 Minnesota legislative session will be missing one vital voice today: Gov. Mark Dayton. His spokesman said Dayton woke up sick this morning and canceled all events.
MOTLEY -- A snowplow was involved in a two-vehicle crash shortly before 6 Saturday morning. Officials say the crash happened near Highway 210 east of Motley, 57-year-old Jeffrey Krall of Pilager was driving a 2013 International Snowplow. Krall was making a left turn into a driveway when his vehicle was struck by a Chrysler T & C van. 42-year-old Daryl Wellnitz of Staples was driving the van involved in the crash.

MANKATO, Minn. -- The first breeding bull has arrived at Minneopa State Park near Mankato, bringing to 15 the number of bison at the park, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The yearling bull comes from Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota and spent a month quarantined at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley.
