DULUTH, Minn. -- A drug trafficking investigation in Superior led to the identification of a Duluth couple as the culprits in a string of northeast Minnesota storage-unit burglaries and the discovery of more than a dozen firearms, authorities said.
GARFIELD, Minn. -- A Garfield man who shot his neighbor’s dog with a pellet gun has had his charge of animal cruelty dismissed by a district court judge. A felony charge against Roger Rosengren was dismissed last week for lack of probable cause.
Two people were killed late Monday night when a pickup truck collided head-on with a semi hauling sugar beets near Felton, Minn. The occupants of the 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup, whose identities have not yet been released, died at the scene after the southbound pickup crossed the centerline of Minn. Highway 9, north of Felton in Clay County and struck the northbound sugar beet truck, at 11:13 p.m., the Minnesota State Patrol said in a news release.
A sugar beet truck driver was seriously injured in a rollover crash early today near Borup, Minn. The crash occurred at about 3:15 a.m. about 4 miles west of Borup, according to a report from the Norman County Sheriff’s Department. The truck driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was driving a loaded truck, was attempting to make a turn at Norman County 39, when the truck rolled, according to the report.
ST. PAUL -- A Minnesota-based group will lead a Tuesday protest against use of potatoes treated with pesticides. The Toxic Taters Coalition plans to hand out organic potatoes at nearly a dozen Minnesota McDonald's restaurants, as well as the chain's stores in six other states and Canada. The action is scheduled to coincide with the fast food chain's launch of its new all-day breakfast menu.

PAUL -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton rolled out a list of endorsements Monday containing much of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party leadership, highlighting the former senator and secretary of state’s support among party insiders as she fends off a bid from Vermont Sen. The entertainment newspaper Variety reports that "'Minnesota' would revolve around the murder of a Norwegian tourist who turns up on the shores of Lake Superior in a case with links to a crime dating back 100 years."
CHASKA, Minn. -- Authorities are searching for a man suspected of shooting two people Thursday night at a home in Chaska, southwest of the Twin Cities. Chaska police say shooting suspect is Joshua Lee Gilpin, 39. He is a white, 5-foot-11 about 200 hundred pounds and was believed to be on foot.
