DULUTH, Minn. -- Duluth police are investigating a bank robbery that happened Monday in the city's Lincoln Park neighborhood. The robbery at the Park State Bank, 2630 W. Superior St., was reported just after 1 p.m. "Duluth police are at the scene and are investigating the incident," the Duluth Police Department reported about 2:15 p.m. "No one is in custody at this time."
BRAINERD, Minn. -- A 91-year-old Brainerd woman died as a result of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash at 11:43 a.m. Sunday on Highway 371 and Barbeau Road, north of Baxter, the Minnesota State Patrol reported. The state patrol identified the woman as Rosemary M. Potvin.
WADENA -- A Wadena teen died in a collision just north of the Wadena city limits Friday night.
BAXTER, Minn. – A Fargo woman and a Brainerd man have died as a result of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle, head-on collision Friday afternoon on Highway 210 west of Baxter, the Minnesota State Patrol reported. Killed in the crash reported at 12:22 p.m were the drivers of the two vehicles, Marilyn Rich, 66, of Fargo and James Freeman, 51 of Brainerd. Gene Rich, 81, a front-seat passenger in a 2005 Toyota Prius, was seriously injured and airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
NEW YORK -- A 46-year-old Alexandria man pleaded guilty to a felony charge that he conspired with two other men to launder more than $2 million dollars, which they believed to be proceeds of a penny stock fraud scheme. The money was, in fact, provided to the defendants by an undercover law enforcement agent as part of an FBI sting operation.
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders plans stops in Duluth and St. Paul Tuesday, looking for votes in Minnesota's March 1 precinct caucuses. The Duluth "A Future to Believe In" rally is set to take place at 3 p.m. at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Arena. MENAHGA, Minn. -- The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension reports no charges will be filed for now in the death of a Detroit Lakes woman who was found dead in a tent in Menahga in the summer of 2014. Previous reports said family members found Kelly Marie Lund, 32, dead in a tent on her brother’s lawn the morning of July 12, 2014. She had returned to her hometown for the annual Midsummer Festival and was camping with her boyfriend.
ST. PAUL -- Governor Mark Dayton on Friday appointed Margaret Chutich, a state Appeals Court judge, to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Chutich was considered by Dayton for previous Supreme Court openings. She will replace Supreme Court Justice Wilhelmina Wright. Wright, a Dayton appointee to the court, this week was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to join the federal bench. Chutich won election to the court in 2014 with 99 percent of the vote, running unopposed.
