Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders plans stops in Duluth and St. Paul Tuesday, looking for votes in Minnesota's March 1 precinct caucuses. The Duluth "A Future to Believe In" rally is set to take place at 3 p.m. at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Arena. Doors will open at 2 p.m. He will speak at 7 p.m. in St. Paul's RiverCentre, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
MENAHGA, Minn. -- The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension reports no charges will be filed for now in the death of a Detroit Lakes woman who was found dead in a tent in Menahga in the summer of 2014. Previous reports said family members found Kelly Marie Lund, 32, dead in a tent on her brother’s lawn the morning of July 12, 2014. She had returned to her hometown for the annual Midsummer Festival and was camping with her boyfriend.
ST. PAUL -- Governor Mark Dayton on Friday appointed Margaret Chutich, a state Appeals Court judge, to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Chutich was considered by Dayton for previous Supreme Court openings. She will replace Supreme Court Justice Wilhelmina Wright. Wright, a Dayton appointee to the court, this week was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to join the federal bench. Chutich won election to the court in 2014 with 99 percent of the vote, running unopposed.
MOORHEAD, Minn. — Moorhead police say they've identified the man suspected of ramming a police cruiser Wednesday night in Gooseberry Park before avoiding arrest by running away. Police believe the man is Jeffrey Dale Garten Jr., 30, of Fargo, Lt. Tory Jacobson said in a news release. Garten is a white man, about 5 foot 8 inches tall, and 180 pounds with short hair.
DULUTH, Minn. -- No criminal charges are pending in the death of an 89-year-old victim in Wednesday's pedestrian fatality in West Duluth. The victim was identified Thursday by the Duluth Police Department as Melvin Joseph Stelton of Duluth.

ST. PAUL -- Minnesota employers added 9,100 jobs in December, and the unemployment rate dropped a notch, according to seasonally adjusted figures released Thursday by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. Those figures, combined with November figures that were revised upward by 2,000 jobs, brought job gains for 2015 in Minnesota to 42,485. Jobs grew 1.5 percent in the state in 2015, compared with a U.S. growth rate of 1.9 percent for the year.
WHITE EARTH, Minn. -- Erma Vizenor said fierce political opposition left her with "no option" but to resign Wednesday as leader of the White Earth Nation. Vizenor's resignation came amid backlash for her support of a constitution that would bring major, controversial changes to the way White Earth is governed and how its membership is determined.
MILTONA, Minn. -- A 59-year-old man who died after he was pinned under a tree trunk near Miltona in central Minnesota on Monday has been identified as Larry William Krause. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was called about 1 p.m. Medical personnel responded to the scene north of Lake Irene, they found Krause unresponsive and were not able to resuscitate him.
