DULUTH, Minn. -- A 55-year-old Duluth man injured in a crash near the Blatnik Bridge on Monday has died, the Minnesota State Patrol reported. Terry C. Hamm was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning at St. Luke’s hospital, according to a State Patrol report.

CROOKSTON—A Fosston, Minn., woman has avoided jail time in connection to an August drug bust near a school. Jessica Ann Holm, 27, was sentenced Tuesday in Polk County District Court to 15 years probation for third-degree possession of drugs in a school zone. In August, four individuals, Holm included, were charged with drug crimes after Polk County Sheriff's deputies found more than $350 worth of meth. Michelle Kathryn Maruska, 38, Bemidji, as well as James Alan Hanson, 35, and Julia Gloria Holm, 25, both of Fosston, also were arrested during the bust.
ANOKA, Minn. -- Two people died Tuesday morning in Anoka County after a head-on collision left one vehicle engulfed in flames with a child inside. A man who witnessed the accident around 8:50 a.m. in the 200 block of Viking Boulevard Northeast in Linwood Township saw the small child buckled into the back seat of the car and pulled the child to safety, according to the Anoka County sheriff’s office. The good Samaritan was identified as Thomas Rush, 35, of Grandy, Minn.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The deadline was extended by one day for those who wanted to apply to design logos for UND's Fighting Hawks nickname. The school issued on Dec. 12 a request for proposal, also known as an RFP, seeking a designer or firm to create logos using public input and develop a graphic identity.
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. – A Dalton, Minn., firefighter accused of stealing money from victims in a June crash that killed two teenage brothers from Moorhead, Minn., changed her plea to guilty days before a trial was set to begin. Tara Lindquist, 43, will serve 10 days in jail and one year of probation on the misdemeanor theft charges. Lindquist was accused of stealing more than $100 from the Kvalvog brothers' wallets at the crash site. She was also ordered to pay $86 in restitution.
VIRGINIA, Minn. -- Three Kmart stores in northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan will close in mid-April, owner Sears Holdings announced Tuesday. The Kmarts in Superior, Wis., Virginia, Minn., and Ironwood, Mich., have been slated for closure. In Superior, the news comes as the nearby Target store prepares to close its doors for good on Jan. 30.
HIBBING - A June trial date has been scheduled for a Hibbing priest accused of sexually abusing four girls. A five-day trial for Brian Michael Lederer, 30, is set to begin June 13 in State District Court in Hibbing, according to court records. Sixth Judicial District Judge David Ackerson previously denied a motion to dismiss the charges, and not guilty pleas were entered on Lederer's behalf on Nov. 30.

BARROWS—Despite the efforts of 30 Brainerd and Nisswa Fire Department firefighters working in -13 degree temperatures, a fire Sunday morning completely destroyed a trailer home in the 10000 block of Heron Street in Barrows. Fire Chief Tim Holmes said the call came at 7:19 a.m. after fire ignited from an as-yet-undetermined cause, possibly the heating system. The renter was home at the time of the fire, but his smoke alarms spurred him to leave before he sustained any injuries, Holmes said. The monetary total of damages was unknown Sunday.
