MOORHEAD, Minn. — A St. Paul man was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana after $400,000 worth of pot was allegedly found in the vehicle he was driving in Clay County in far western Minnesota. According to a complaint filed in Clay County District Court: A Minnesota state trooper was on patrol about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, when he saw a truck with Oregon plates veer over the fog line on Interstate 94.
OTTERTAIL, Minn. — A potato truck was struck by a train in Ottertail Wednesday morning, Sept. 27, pushing the truck along the tracks for several yards before coming to a stop.
VIRGINIA, Minn. — A 15-year-old girl suffered injuries after the school bus she was riding in hit a culvert Tuesday, Sept. 26, in St. Louis County. The Minnesota State Patrol said Natalie Fultz was taken to Ely Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. She was riding in a school bus driving by Kevin Bernard Burzynski, 47, of Hibbing.
MOORHEAD—A North Dakota pro-life group plans to hold a rally Oct. 25 outside the Planned Parenthood clinic here, with speakers that will include the niece of famed civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Alveda King, founder of Alveda King Ministries, will be the keynote speaker for the rally, said Linda Thorson, director of Concerned Women of America of North Dakota. Two other area women are also expected to speak about their personal experience with abortion, Thorson said. Thorson said the event is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. at 803 Belsly Blvd. in Moorhead.

The Fargodome tweeted the concert announcement around 4:45 p.m., Friday, after tweet-teasing “a huge concert announcement” earlier in the day. The tweeted announcement included a 360-degree image of the singer wearing a North Dakota State University Bison T-shirt with the number 18 on it, the year of his tour.
PINE RIVER, Minn. -- An 18-year-old Pine River man was killed in a rollover crash at 3:37 a.m. Friday on Cass County Road 42 in rural Pine River.
DENT, Minn. -- A Fargo woman suffered serious injuries early Friday, Sept. 22, when the car she was driving struck a horse in the roadway near here. According to a report released by the Minnesota State Patrol: The crash occurred about 5:20 a.m. on Highway 108 east of Dent. Leah Marie Orner, 29, of Fargo, was driving eastbound when her car struck a horse on the roadway and her vehicle came to rest next to the road. She was airlifted to a hospital in Perham with life-threatening injuries. No other details were immediately available.
HIBBING, Minn. -- A 66-year-old Chicago man who’d fallen overboard died despite rescue and resuscitation efforts at a resort on Lake Kabetogama in far northern Minnesota on Wednesday afternoon — and the 55-year-old driver of the boat was arrested on suspicion of being drunk at the time of the incident. Wlodzimierz Dziechciowski reportedly fell overboard after the boat he was in was struck by the wake of another vessel just before 5 p.m., the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reported in a news release.
BEMIDJI, Minn. -- One home is destroyed after an early morning fire in Rockwood Township. Authorities were called to the scene around 1 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, flames were shooting through the roof. Seventeen firefighters from several different agencies battled the flames for multiple hours before it was under control. Damage is estimaed at $109,000. No one was home at the time of the blaze. The cause is under investigation.
MONTEVIDEO, Minn. — Michael Scott Christie, 63, of Lame Deer, Montana, pleaded guilty Monday in Chippewa County District Court to two felony charges of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult for his role in taking $340,000 from the estate of his mother. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and sentencing scheduled for Oct. 31. Christie's wife, Martina Annette Christie, 61, faces 12 felony charges for alleged financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
