KENSINGTON, Minn. — Three barns and 22 calves were lost in a fire Wednesday night, Jan. 31, on a farm north of Kensington. The fire apparently started when a skid loader was left idling near some round hay bales, a news release from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said. The fire then spread to nearby calf barns.
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. — An Oregon man has been charged with felony drug possession after a traffic stop on Interstate 94 found 200 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle. A Minnesota State Patrol trooper pulled over a van on I-94 Friday, Jan. 26. The vehicle was driven by Cory Frazier, 42. Philomath, Ore., according to Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow and Otter Tail County District Court records.
MITCHELL, S.D. — A Minnesota man was sentenced to 10 years in the South Dakota State Penitentiary for assaulting a Mitchell woman. Eustace Miles, 50, of Moorhead pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in 2017 for punching the victim, hitting her with an extension cord and belt. He also stabbed a pair of scissors into the victim's ear, puncturing her eardrum, in July 2016. Miles must pay $5,161.97 in fines, court costs and restitution to the victim.
ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Court of Appeals has affirmed a judicial review panel's recommendation to discharge a man with Clay County ties from the state's sex offender treatment program. Kirk Alan Fugelseth, 50, was convicted of abusing children in Arizona, Oregon and Clay County in the 1990s. In 2001, he was sent to federal prison for possessing child pornography.
A 49-year-old Minneapolis woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday, Jan. 27, on Highway 6 north of Crosby. The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. at the Highway 6 intersection with Crow Wing County Road 11 in Perry Lake Township, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

BADGER, Minn. -- Two northwest Minnesota men face numerous charges after a bar fight led to eight shots fired at one of the men in his pickup in Roseau County. Jordan Milo Foss, 33, of Badger, and Brandon John Peterson, 28, of Roseau, Minn., appeared Tuesday in Roseau County District Court. The chain of early Saturday morning events reportedly started with an altercation at Skippy Finns’ Bar in Badger, investigators said in court documents.
SAUK CENTRE, Minn. -- A 50-year-old pilot was found dead after his single-engine experimental aircraft was discovered Wednesday morning, Jan. 24, after the plane was reported missing on Tuesday, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said. Authorities were notified about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday that the aircraft hadn’t returned to the Sauk Centre Airport, where the pilot was to practice take-offs and landings, the sheriff’s office said. The plane was last seen around 3:30 p.m.
