BAXTER, Minn. -- An infant girl, found unresponsive at a home day care in Baxter Thursday morning, has died. The Baxter Police Department reports police officers responded to the report at 10:50 a.m. at the home of Kimberly J. Opay and Jerry A. Opay III. Baxter police reported the day care providers noticed the infant was unresponsive, immediately started lifesaving efforts and called 911.
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- Investigators in the case of a missing woman say they do not believe she left the west-central Minnesota area voluntarily and are seeking information about a car that may be involved. Laura Schwendemann, 19, was last seen about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Holiday gas station on 50th Avenue in Alexandria. Investigators are asking the public to report sightings of a 1997 black Geo Prism with a loud exhaust from 9:30 p.m. Oct. 14 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 15.
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- Authorities are seeking help in finding a University of Minnesota Morris freshman student. Laura Ann Schwendemann, 18, has been missing since Wednesday evening, Oct. 14. According to authorities, she was last seen at the Holiday Gas Station on 50th Avenue in Alexandria at approximately 9:29 p.m.
AITKIN, Minn. -- A man who shot and killed an Aitkin County sheriff's investigator Sunday at St. Cloud Hospital faced multiple felony charges for allegedly terrorizing his wife -- including holding a gun to her head and threatening to feed her rat poison -- before attempting suicide, the Aitkin County Sheriff's Office reported Monday.

STARBUCK, Minn. – Authorities have arrested a juvenile male who rammed a patrol car after leading officers on a high-speed chase through Pope and Stevens counties in west-central Minnesota on Saturday. About 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the Starbuck Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle, last seen headed south on Minnesota Highway 29, then west on County Road 18 in Pope County.
ST. PAUL -- Former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman has throat cancer. Coleman posted on his Facebook page Monday morning that he is being treated by doctors at Mayo Clinic and in the Twin Cities. "It is clear that my cancer, while serious, is very treatable and the prognosis is extremely positive," he said. Within minutes of the posting, friends began reacting, wishing him good luck.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- A Crookston woman is in custody for the armed robberies of two Grand Forks banks in recent weeks, according to Grand Forks Police. Charlene Mae Corona, 39, was charged Friday with two counts of robbery, both Class B felonies, and two counts of terrorizing, both Class C felonies, in Grand Forks District Court, though she is being held in Moorhead on unrelated charges, according to a news release by the Grand Forks Police Department.
ST. PAUL -- With conditions ripe for wildfires across much of Minnesota, the state Department of Natural Resources urged caution when burning vegetation this fall. The DNR rates the fire danger across southern and central Minnesota as high or very high, and burning permits are required statewide as of Thursday.
