STAPLES, Minn. — A 17-year-old boy is facing life-threatening injuries after the horse and buggy he was driving was rear-ended by a semi-truck. David Miller, of Staples, was injured on Thursday, Nov. 30, on Highway 210 in northern Todd County, the Minnesota State Patrol reported. The horse and buggy were westbound on Highway 210 between Hewitt and Staples. A semi-truck driven by Douglas Calkins, 60, of Deerwood, also was westbound and rear-ended the horse and buggy.
FORADA, Minn. -- The 36-year-old west-central Minnesota man involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident Monday afternoon has died. According to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office, Derek Biggar of Carlos died Tuesday, Nov. 28, as a results of injuries sustained in the crash. Biggar was flown to St. Cloud Hospital after the crash at the intersection of a county road and another residentIal road about seven miles northwest of Forada, near Lake Mary.
MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Lynx will host a garage sale with several items bearing the former team logo. Among the items will be bobbleheads, jerseys and other discounted merchandise, the team said. The WNBA team’s garage sale will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 1, on the skyway level of Mayo Clinic Square across from Target Center. The team also said some Timberwolves items will be available.

CASS COUNTY, Minn. — Three individuals wanted in connection with an ongoing homicide investigation have been located by authorities. The Cass County Sheriff's Office shared on its Facebook page the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 28, that three people are in custody and cooperating with an investigation surrounding a fatal shooting Sunday, Nov. 12, in Cass Lake, Minn.
Multiple media outlets this morning are reporting that Matt Lauer, host of NBC's Today Show morning program, has been fired over allegations of sexual harassment. Savannah Guthrie, Lauer's co-anchor, opened Wednesday's Today show with an announcement of Lauer's firing. Check back later for updates.
FARGO — One of two suspects in the killing of Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind is apparently planning to make a change of plea in Cass County District Court. According to online court records, Brooke Crews is scheduled to change her plea during a hearing on Dec. 11. A notice of the hearing was filed Monday, Nov. 27.
WHITE EARTH, MINN. — A 34-year-old White Earth man is in jail after he led police on chase, then ditched his vehicle and ran into the woods with police saying they later found a large quantity of drugs in his car. An officer with the White Earth Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop south of White Earth in northwest Minnesota when the suspect sped off while the officer was approaching the stopped vehicle.
FLORIDA—A Minnesota man who is wanted for federal drug charges led police on a high-speed chase this weekend in Florida. Authorities say the man responsible has an arrest warrant issued from Moorhead. Thirty-five-year-old Ryan Swartley from Park Rapids is being held on a charge of aggravated fleeing, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is also charged with violating probation after leading police on a pursuit through Panama City Beach on Saturday. Authorities say the speeds reached over 90 miles an hour.
MOORHEAD — Moorhead police have recaptured an inmate who walked away from the Clay County Jail on Thursday, Nov. 23. The inmate, James Lekvick Wingo, left the jail annex and was spotted by a Moorhead police officer walking south in the 300 block of 10th Street North at 1:17 p.m. wearing all orange jail attire, police said Friday, Nov. 24. When Wingo was ordered to stop, he fled into the neighborhood in the 1000 block of Second Avenue North, police said.
